Llanfair gets creative for Month of the Military Child

Llanfair gets creative for Month of the Military Child

Throughout April our Service Children, at Llanfair, coloured Month of the Military Child pictures and created a piece of art - a purple dandelion being blown in the wind. All the SC, from Nursery to Year 6 put a painted fingerprint in the centre of the dandelion head to represent them feeling safe and secure at Llanfair. They also put a fingerprint on a seed blowing away on the breeze to represent them moving on to a new school. We created a display in the school foyer for all pupils and visitors to see.

Most pupils in the school wore purple on Friday 24th April and all the staff took part too.

The junior pupils, from our MOD Club, spoke in a special assembly with Charlotte and Harry, our Service Children Ambassadors, leading the assembly.

They spoke about why we celebrate Month of the Military Child, why the dandelion is the official flower and their own experiences of moving schools, parents being deployed and being separated from extended family.

Some Service Children parents were able to attend the assembly and I am sure they were extremely proud seeing how confident and able our junior Service Children were, standing up in front of the whole school.

Da iawn to all our amazing MOD Club.
