Ysgol Golwg Pen y Fan marked Month of the Military Child with a whole school ‘Purple Up’ celebration, bringing children together from across its three school sites. The day was co-ordinated by Ms Hyett, the school’s Service Children School Champion, and was a fantastic example of the school’s commitment to recognising and celebrating its Service children.
The project was designed to strengthen family, community and wellbeing support for Service children by building home-school links, encouraging shared experiences and promoting emotional resilience. Activities included a disco, purple themed artwork, ice creams, face paints, temporary tattoos, bubbles and plenty of fun!
The celebration brought Service children and their families together at school for refreshments, activities and displays of pupils’ work. It fostered a strong sense of pride and belonging, helped families connect with staff and one another, and encouraged greater involvement in school life.
