On 7 July, Jo, SSCE Cymru’s Participation Lead Officer, was delighted to join pupils from Ysgol Bae Baglan for a charity climb of Pen y Fan as part of the Help for Heroes Month of the Military Child social impact project.
The Year 5, 6 and 7 pupils took on the challenge on a perfect walking day, raising money for Help for Heroes while proudly representing their school and the wider Service children community.
Throughout the climb, pupils were excellent ambassadors. They engaged brilliantly with members of the public, showed respect and kindness to others on the mountain, and encouraged one another every step of the way. Their pride in both their own achievements and those of their friends was clear to see.
The activity formed part of the wider Month of the Military Child project with Help for Heroes, which has encouraged Service children, young people and their peers across Wales to raise awareness, take positive action and support a charity closely connected to the Armed Forces community.
SSCE Cymru would like to say a huge well done to all the pupils who took part and thank the staff who supported and supervised the climb. It was a memorable day that celebrated teamwork, resilience and the positive difference young people can make within their school and wider community.
