To commemorate Remembrance, Service children, Jack and Merci (Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School), Ava (Llangatwg Community School) and Joshua (Dwr Y Felin Comprehensive School), have shared their experiences as Service children and what Remembrance means to them, representing their schools and local authority in this fantastic film.

Cefn Saeson Comprehensive School hosted the recording, joined by Neath Port Talbot Armed Forces Champion Cllr Tim Bowen.

A proud moment for the Neath Port Talbot Military Family, this demonstrates the local authority’s ongoing Service Pupil Promise commitment to ensuring "Service children and young people feel recognised, championed and supported to flourish".

Their recording featured at the Mayor's Remembrance Concert in Neath on Friday 23rd October, where Mal Pope introduced the video:
"We’re very proud to highlight the work that goes on in schools across Neath Port Talbot to support the children of those currently serving in our Armed Forces, whether as regulars or reserves. These children face unique challenges every day due to their parents’ career choice, including repeated periods of separation during exercises and operations, and frequent moves between homes and schools because of service life.
Staff at all schools are made aware of pupils who are Military Children and how support may be needed and offered.
They do this with help from ‘Supporting Service Children in Education Cymru’ which is funded by Welsh Government.
Neath Port Talbot Armed Forces Champion Councillor Tim Bowen recently met with four Military Children who attend Cefn Saeson, Llangatwg and Dwr Y Felin schools in Neath. As well as describing what life is like growing up in Military families, they also explained what Remembrance means to them personally."
