On Friday 17th October, Llanfair Primary School, near St Athan, held a special presentation assembly to celebrate receiving the Silver Armed Forces Friendly School status. This recognition highlights the school’s ongoing commitment to supporting Service children and their families.
The assembly was attended by parents, Governors, and the Armed Forces Champion for the Vale of Glamorgan Council. Ms. Jones, the school’s Service Children School Champion (SCSC), opened the event, followed by junior pupils who shared insights into the work involved in achieving the Silver status. They spoke about the support available to Service children, the school’s engagement with the local community, the valuable contributions of Armed Forces parents, and how funding has helped enhance their learning environment.
Following the assembly, parents and Service children visited the school’s MOD Club room, explored the garden area, partly funded by SSCE Cymru, and admired the oak tree sapling planted on the field, generously donated by Windsor Great Park.
