Treorchy Comprehensive School’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF) was honoured to welcome Lynne Maitland, Schools Cadet Engagement Officer for the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association in Wales.
During her visit, Lynne generously took time out of her busy schedule to present the school with its Armed Forces Friendly School (AFFS) Bronze status from SSCE Cymru. This award recognises Treorchy Comprehensive’s ongoing commitment to supporting Service children and young people within the school community.
Lynne was given a tour of the wide range of activities delivered by the CCF and engaged enthusiastically with both cadets and staff. She also gave an inspiring talk about her own journey through the Cadets, highlighting the many opportunities she embraced and how they helped shape her future.
The visit was a fantastic way to celebrate the school’s Armed Forces Friendly status and to strengthen positive links with the local community. We look forward to continuing our work with Treorchy Comprehensive as they progress towards achieving their Silver status!
