On Thursday 5th March 2026 Bridgend County Borough Council proudly hosted a Service Pupil Promise event. This pupil voice event brough together 34 military connected children and young people from 9 different schools across Bridgend.
During the event the children were involved in a range of reflective and creative tasks allowing them to share their experiences and help us understand what life can be like as a Service child. The event also gave the staff from schools (Service Children School Champions) the opportunity to network, share best practice and learn more about how SSCE Cymru can support schools and Service children.
Thank you to all staff from Bridgend County Borough Council, in particular Neil and Sarah, for organising such a brilliant event, venue, food and goodies. Thank you also to Cllr Huw David for opening this event and AFLO Finola for your support. SSCE Cymru thoroughly appreciates your support and dedication in allowing the only the second event of it's kind to happen. It was such a great day and fantastic to hear from the wonderful Service children, young people and school staff alike.
A big thank you also to the wonderful Service children and staff. Your voices will now be used to shape how schools and the county council support you through the creation of the Bridgend Service Pupil Promise. Watch this space.
