To celebrate Armed Forces Week, Bridgend County Borough Council, hosted their annual Bridgend Forces Festival at the Bridgend Army Reserve Centre (160 Company REME HQ).
Organised by Neil Arbery, Lead Officer Strategic Development (Primary) and Sarah Humphreys, Lead Officer Strategic Development (Secondary), from the Schools Group at the local authority, the two-day event welcomed 182 pupils from 20 schools across Bridgend, including 125 children from Armed Forces families. The festival brought together Service children and young people, giving them the opportunity to connect, laugh, and enjoy a wide range of engaging activities. With outstanding support from partners including Forces Fitness, Taino Cymru, Bridgend Music Service, University of South Wales, The Urdd, Pencoed Primary School, Finola Pickwell (AFLO), Centregreat, CTM UHB NHS, BAVO, The Poppy Factory, and the local cadet force, the event was a shining example of how a successful bid to the SSCE-Wales Fund can bring communities together and create lasting memories for our young people.
Noah, aged 9, a Service child from Ysgol Gymraeg Calon y Cymoedd, who has attended these events for the last three years, said; "This has been the best one yet!"
