Margam Park Christmas Tree Exhibition - Neath Port Talbort Service children tree
Rhagfyr 2024
Baglan Education and Training Centre dedicated a christmas tree at Margam Park Christmas Tree Exhibition to the Service children in Neath Port Talbort. Service children across the LA were invited to create decorations for the tree.
The Neath Port Talbot Community Focused Team shared:
“Across our Local Authority, we have 167 registered Service children enrolled in full time education across schools and colleges. There children are some of our most underrepresented children in education, and some of our most vulnerable. Service children experience loss, confusion and lots of mixed emotions when a parent or carer us being deployed or while they are deployed. As a team, we are committed to supporting our Service children and raising awareness of the support we, as practitioners, can offer. We work closely with Armed Forces representatives, SSCE Cymru and Armed Forces charities to share good practice with others and support each other on our journeys.
Our tree
Wooden baubles – The wooden baubles on our tree show artwork created by our Service children across the authority.
Purple bows – The purple bows represent the schools supporting Service children across the authority.
Blue, green and red bows – These bows represent each registered Service child across the authority – 167 in total.
Robin bauble – The robin bauble is very special. The robin represents the parents and carers who we have lost while serving our country. It is a small sentiment to remind children of their loved ones. “When a robin appears, a loved one is near.”
