Lyla, a Service child ambassador from Llantwit Major High School

Lyla, a Service child ambassador from Llantwit Major High School

September 2023

Jo, our Participation Lead Officer (PLO), has been out and about on school visits and called into Llantwit Major High School to catch up with Lyla, one of our Service child ambassadors. Lyla has recently been nominated and selected as a finalist in this years Service Children Awards Cymru 2023.

Lyla was nominated by her school for her positive contribution to the schools MOD Ambassadors/Forces Life Club and has always been a wonderful role model to the younger Service children/young people at the school. Congratulations Lyla and best of luck for the finals. The same goes to all the amazing finalists for this years awards. You are all inspirational and we look forward to the event at the end of October.

Lyla, has also helped the SSCE Cymru team by participating in a couple projects, including some voice recordings for a short film about our programme. Diolch Lyla, it was a pleasure working with you.

Sanjog

"He signed off last week, so he will be done by the end of this year. He’s done 24 years. I find that better because he will be around a lot. He likes watching us playing rugby, so he will get to see us more."

"I’m going to a new place entirely. They don’t know anything about me and that’s a big restart and that’s really good for me."

Piaras

"I moved to Wales because my dad was posted in the Army. I thought I would get bullied and I was shy when you meet new people, but I made some friends."
