Baglan Primary School Celebrate Silver!

Baglan Primary School Celebrate Silver!

February 2024

On the morning of Thursday 8th Febuary, Baglan Primary School, in Neath Port Talbot, were presented with their Silver Armed Forces Friendly School (AFFS) Cymru status, in recognition of their whole school approach when creating a positive and welcoming environment for Service children on their role.

Their Little Troopers Club were joined at their celebration assembly by a guest of honour, Kath Morris. Kath will celebrate her 100th birthday in March and served at Bletchley Park during WW2 and is now a local resident. The whole school and other guests including the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr Chris Williams, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan Capt Huw Williams, Armed Forces Liaison Officer (AFLO) Finola Pickwell, Armed Forces School Governor Major Charlie Bentley RA, Mrs Kelly Devonport - a parent to two Little Troopers, Sean Molino from Forces Fitness and a host of Service children parents sang Happy birthday/Penblwydd Hapus to Kath.

This school continues to show outstanding support to their Service children and we have been delighted to work with Eve Wilson, the school's Service Children School Champion. Thank you to Eve and the whole team at Baglan Primary for all their effort and dedication.

Congratulations on your Silver status!

"I moved to Wales because my dad was posted in the Army. I thought I would get bullied and I was shy when you meet new people, but I made some friends."
